Industrial Electrician (British Columbia)

Leading industrial service company has openings for full-time, long-term positions for industrial trades in North Western BC specifically; Kitimat, Terrace and Burns Lake. Journeymen and Apprentices with experience positions available.

Our Industrial Electrical division inspects, installs, maintains, tests, troubleshoots and repairs industrial electrical equipment, associated electrical and electronic controls and communication networks.
Reporting to the Electrical Lead, the Electrician is a key member of our construction and maintenance teams. We live health and safety without compromise and as the successful candidate you will be responsible for assisting in safely maintaining all electrical, electronic, instrumentation and process control programming and computer networking on the plant site to ensure maximum uptime.

Working Conditions:
• Work will be indoor and outdoor often in rough terrain and under typical Northern BC weather conditions. Work is regularly undertaken in environmentally sensitive locations.
• Working in and around noise and dust typical to industrial sites
• 10-12 hour day and night shifts
• Shift rotation changes per location (typically Monday-Friday or 14 on, 7 off)
• Living local or willing to relocate given preference, camp an option
• Benefits provided by appropriate union (discipline dependant)
• Must be a team player willing to lend a hand whenever assistance is required to complete the job

Responsibilities:
• Maintaining a high level of safety awareness by continually adhering to safety standards and ensuring participation in safety meetings.
• Following and adhering to lock-out procedures.
• Optimizing facilities process control systems as well as improving reliability of the process systems. This includes 25kV systems, robotics and PLC control.
• Maintaining equipment to ensure maximum running time and tuning programs for maximum output and quality.
• Installing, troubleshooting and maintaining VFD, and DC drives.
• Installing new electrical equipment, and maintaining on a preventative maintenance schedule
• Troubleshooting during upset conditions on existing PLC controls systems and field devices
• Configuring, developing and programming industrial computer network and PLC systems
• Assisting in the installation of approved improvement projects.
• Installation and maintenance of 600V PDCs, transformers and various electrical equipment
• Troubleshoot and maintain three phase generators

Qualifications and Experience:
• Thorough knowledge of industrial electrical systems
• Ability to work at heights or in cramped spaces.
• Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong knowledge of work safe practices
• Minimum 3 years of experience in related field
• Electrical college diploma or relevant education, or
• Electrician “red seal” certification

Physical & Other Requirements:
• Work will be indoor and outdoor often in rough terrain and under typical Northern BC weather conditions. Work is regularly undertaken in environmentally sensitive locations.
• Working in and around noise and dust typical to industrial sites
• 10-12 hour day and night shifts
• Shift rotation changes per location (typically Monday-Friday or 14 on, 7 off)

• Pre-access basic medical required
• Pre-access, post-incident drug and alcohol testing requirement
• Stand or walk for long periods of time
• Ability to stand, crouch, and kneel for long periods of time
• Ability to lift up to 25kg
• Climbing stairs/ladders regularly
• Ability to work safely in a variety of hazardous environments including but not limited to: heights, power tools, slips, falls, falling objects, and sharp hand tools
• Valid driver’s license and drivers abstract
• CSTS 09 (Construction safety training systems) and WHIMIS 2015. *Successful candidates without it will be set up with appropriate training required.
